Steps to Becoming a Homesharer
1. COMPLETE THE SHS APPLICATION.
2. SHS completes a BACKGROUND
CHECK on all applicants.
3. SHARED HOUSING PERSONNEL WILL inform and describe available homeprovider/homeseekers while maintaining anonymity of applicants.
4. WHEN AN APPLICANT SELECTS A PARTICULAR HOMEPROVIDER/
HOMESEEKER, SHARED HOUSING SERVICES WILL ARRANGE FOR
APPLICANTS TO MEET in a setting (SHS office or restaurant) or homeprovider’s home if
applicant desire this service.
5. If homeseeker applicant and homeprovider applicant want to pursue this potential homesharing
opportunity, information regarding references will be shared and further meetings arranged by
SHS if desired.
6. VISIT TO HOMEPROVIDER’S RESIDENCE. Shared Housing staff will provide
transportation to the homeprovider’s home if the homeseeker applicant wishes it.
7. TRIAL HOMESHARING PERIOD (weekend, week, month). This is a good
opportunity to work out the written homesharing agreement if this is going to become a
more permanent homesharing arrangement. A trial homesharing period is recommended as
a good way for homesharers to become aquatinted and test compatibility.
8. SIGN COMPLETED WRITTEN HOMESHARING and set move-in dates and
inform SHS of the move-in plans along with a copy of the homeshare agreement.
